Tyr-7BE 03-31-2001, 12:20 AM probably not a whole lot...it's a weenie little increment...I think "keeper" means "doesn't crash and burn :p" There should be a changelog at kernel.org though. willk 03-31-2001, 12:24 AM ...yeah thats about it for me.... I just loog at the change logs and check the reqiurements...compile that sucker and let it rip.... Usually I screw somethin' up....guess I got lucky today.... Aikidoka 03-31-2001, 10:47 AM seems pretty stable here. I think is mainly driver updates and a few other odds and ends. The King Ant 03-31-2001, 04:48 PM Yes, driver updates and bug fixes. Here are some things that I know are changed (because they concern me). USB printers and devfs should work. There is a new Adaptec SCSI card driver. It just replaces the old aic7xxx with a new one. I also noticed a new IP tables target, something about ICMP and weird ISP setups (it didn't really concern me). So you guys didn't have any problems compiling? I got some undefined reference errors. Once with the new Adaptec module, and once with some IPX stuff. I switched to the old Adaptec driver to get around the first problem. I dunno what I'm going to do about this IPX thing... Maybe I just have a weird setup. Aikidoka 03-31-2001, 05:42 PM No problems so far. I don't have any scsi devices anymore so I don't know about the first one. I don't use IPX so I don't know about the second one either. As usual, I'm no help, sorry. ;) hungarian 03-31-2001, 08:02 PM I just compiled it and running it as a dual boot with kernel 2.2.18 with this new 2.4.3 and I certainly love the speed. Can not comment on stability yet, too early to say but no crashes so far. It IS FAsssssssst. I like it ;) :D Derango 03-31-2001, 10:38 PM I compiled 2.4.3 friday morning (before the servers got swamped). I don't notice much of a difference in the performace of the kernel. But the one thing I did notice was that they changed the -oformat in the makefiles to --oformat...makes a debian user happy ;) justlinux.com
