Well, I'm not sure if it's a feature of the 2.4 Kernel or not, but it just appeared when I upgraded from Debian w/ a 2.2.18 kernel to the new 2.4.3. A little Tux logo on the top left corner of my screen appeared. Mandrake does this too though...
Does anyone know where this file is? And how do I change it? I'd love to replace it with a Debian swirl on my system.
Hmmm,
I don't have an answer, but I'd like to know- the same thing happens when I boot into LinuxPPC (2000 Q4 release) on my Mac at work.
"Who is that penguin, and why is he following me?!"

You get the Tux Logo when you add framebuffer support into the kernel, it was there in the 2.2.x kernels, too.
And, yes it can be changed. There was a "How I did it" in the "How I did it" forum try searching for it.

Damnit now why'd you have to go and say that? I didn't know about that and now I want it! Unless it's that big scary tux face that displays when Drake starts up. If it's that then I don't want anything to do with it! *shudder*

Ah-Ha, thanks! That answers my Mac question.
LinuxPPC on my G3 uses the framebuffer device
by default, so that explains the "Penguin Anomaly".

Oh no no no no... not the big goofy looking tux that Mandrake uses... but yes, the little Tux in the corner. Hmm. Framebuffer support? Come to think of it I _did_ compile that into the kernel.
I'll take a look in the "How ya doin'" section.
