modify ihome to make it hook up to usb

Has anyone ever or heard of someone taking apart an ihome and modifying it to having a usb port on back so you can always have your ihope plugged into your PCs usb? then whenever you put your ipod on it it will be hooked up to usb. I for one think this would be cool.

Has anyone anyone have any tips for how someone might go about doing this?

I found an ipod connector pinout. If you look at the connector wiring on the ihome and find the USB data pins are not used then it might be possible. You do not want to connect the USB power pins from the computer to the ihome.

I do not own an ipod nor do I know how the remote control functions work but think it is via serial data and not USB. I also do not know how the ipod will function when both interfaces are being used.
