I downloaded doom 1.8 from cnet. I've unzipped it and read the readmes but they don't help in any way. Does anyone know how to do it. The files included are:

README
README.config
README.dos
README.linuxs
README.linuxx
doom1.wad
libvga.so.1@
libvga.so.1.2.0*
sdoom*
sndserver*
xdoom*


Someone must have done this before

I think you'd just run xdoom.

Also, check out www.doomworld.com (http://www.doomworld.com) for other linux ports of doom that have opengl suport and other neat features!

That's what i thought to. But it just says bash: cannot execute binary file
I've mixed around with the file permissions and stuff but neither seems to do the trick. I know some other people have had the same problem.
