well, my X froze again, I had to restart via "reboot"

and now I get this:

(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Mouse1" (type: MOUSE)
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
Could not init font path element unix/:-1, removing from list!

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".
Please report problems to xfree86@xfree86.org.

any help appreciated , thx : ) really need to get X working

Sounds like you have a font problem. Are you running a TTF font server? Is it running? Being blocked by a firewall?

Yup- that's one of the classic errors you can get when you run out of spce.

How do you tell if you are running out of room. I am having a similar problem starting X. The message is "could not open default font 'fixed'".

Thanks
