UPDATE: Ok, I installed gkrellm, I found a skin i would like to install on it, but I dont understand the xterm lingo, Ive installed everything via "apt-get install" and not usning the package manager, using the console just makes it easier for me, but the ~/XXX I dont get so can someone break down the how to install styles and skins for gkrellm and fluxbox for me??? JohnT 09-16-2008, 01:52 AM The Gkrellm homepage with a lot of info and links (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/billw/gkrellm/gkrellm.html) Fluxbox Documentation that works (http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook/en/html/) (for the most part...consider your distro) A good starting page if your new to setting up Flux (http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/download.php) mmills 09-16-2008, 09:56 AM The Gkrellm homepage with a lot of info and links (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/billw/gkrellm/gkrellm.html) Fluxbox Documentation that works (http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook/en/html/) (for the most part...consider your distro) A good starting page if your new to setting up Flux (http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/download.php) ok, so I stated I was lost with some of the extensions, from this potion of my last reply. JohnT 09-16-2008, 03:53 PM Normally it points to your home directory. mmills 09-16-2008, 09:08 PM Normally it points to your home directory. Well, I put a skin in my home directory, but what is the command I need to use? do I need to make the path /home/username/.gkrellm/themes ? glasdave 09-16-2008, 10:23 PM I right clicked gkrellM,hit f1 and got to the config areas, and went to themes, and in the info box it says, "Untar your theme tar files in /home/your dir here/.grellm2/themes" so, I think the file already exists. JohnT 09-17-2008, 01:15 AM The sum total of my Ggkrellm knowledge is now yours to have to hold from this day forth......Here (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/billw/gkrellm/Themes.html) mmills 09-17-2008, 11:57 AM I right clicked gkrellM,hit f1 and got to the config areas, and went to themes, and in the info box it says, "Untar your theme tar files in /home/your dir here/.grellm2/themes" so, I think the file already exists. i guess i have failed in explaining myself, the file name is milk.tar.tar,it is currently in /home/mmills,so how do i extract it and move it to /home/mmills/gkrellm2/skins , I'm am guessing the file is hidden to a normal user, its not a visible file that i can just drag the folder to b130:/home/mmills# tar -xzvf /home/mmills/milk.tar.tar /mmills/home/.gkrellm2/skins/ tar: /mmills/home/.gkrellm2/skins: Not found in archive mmills 09-17-2008, 02:56 PM never mind me, im a retard, I figured out how to do it, i went into the home folder, show hidden files and placed it in the proper sub folder....... /smack!:p justlinux.com
