Most of the distributions I have give this file system option, but what is this file system?Is it better than ext2? What's the pros&cons if any?

Search the forums for answers... or check reiserfs home page (http://www.reiserfs.org) .In sohrt reiserfs is fast and uses journaling so fsck's take only seconds.

1. Reiserfs rocks ***!
2. it's FAST
3. it's journaling, so it will be much less likely to loose any data
4. it checks itself for consistency in no time at all ( 1 sec for 50GB on my sys)
