Gettings all.

I attempted installing Ubuntu (following these (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MacBookPro) instructions) on my new Mac Book Pro but ran into some trouble.

I should say I attempted to install Ubuntu following those instructions. After installing rEFit, I popped in my new Ubuntu DVD and restarted my computer. An Ubuntu menu appeared and I selected the first option to run and install Ubuntu. The OS started up and I clicked the install icon, followed the prompts as best I could and then restarted my computer.

Nothing booted up. I should say no OS booted up, it was just a blank screen with a blinking underscore. The only way I was able to get to an OS was to put the CD in again. Finally I deleted the Ubuntu partitions and rebooted but wasn't given anything better. Then, I reinstalled Ubuntu selecting the largest available continuous partition. Now grub loads Ubuntu but says nothing about my OS X.

Did I lose my OS X? If not, does anyone know how I can find it?

Update: I figured out holding the option key allows me to choose between the OS X and Linux partitions. Now all I need to do is figure out why reFIt didn't work properly.

I'm using refit right now. I followed the instructions and manually installed and activated it. I think I had to edit a file...

Did you make sure to run these instructions from OS X before you rebooted?

cd /efi/refit
./enable-always.sh
