smpeg has a pluggin for a CLI player and a xmms plugin. I use the plugin myself. Try that. Also you can try xmps. aktion is a kde front-end for xanim. Maybe upgrade your xanim and xanim-modules. HTH

you probably have smpeg installed. But heres the kicker...smpeg is just the library. The actual comand that you want to know is gtv.

Try gtv at the command line and see if it works. GTV is used for movies in mpg format. xanim can do .avi's.

I haven't found anything that can do .asf files. There are programs that supposedly play them, but I haven't gotten them to work.

Search your filesystem for 'smpeg'.

If you do not have it installed, how about trying a search at freshmeat.net or sourceforge.net?

To install? Should have installation instructions with it unless in rpm format. Then use 'rpm ivh packagename'.
