I'm trying to install a linmodem driver for a pctel hsp56 modem. have untarred the archive and tried to compile the source code for the driver and no go.
whenever I type in "make" it comes back with 'command not found'
I have also tried to install the modem by copying the supplied compiled version but it seems that it's for a previous kernel.
am I missing something?

Lemme guess...Mandrake? :D j/k
(I'm takin' some heat for being vocal about disliking Drake for newbies)

You need to install "GNU make" wherever on your CDs it is. Check while you're at it if you got Automake, Autoconf, and GCC also installed for the future.

Better still, a full install if disk space permits.
