I'm glad there is a newbies corner. I would like to use Linux, I know the flavor I want but I need it to be compatible with the OS, so what my question is,

~ Does Unix drivers work with Linux?

It is a cannon camera. I'm pretty sure that Gphoto a program for linux has the drivers for it. Anyone have any experience with cameras and linux?

Thanks for you time.

I'm sorry for this. It's a Kodak. The reason for me bing wishy washy on that is because this is for my family this computer. I don't want them running Windows mostly for the fact I'm sick of it. You can run a Linux Flavor that looks just like vista at requirements nothing like that of Vista. With that said it is a,

I have done some google snooping, maybe not good enough. From your comment then I assume Unix is not compatible on any level?

You might want to have a closer look at this (http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/60271.html) first Google search result that came up..
Just try out a live CD (I recommend Ubuntu because its so easy) and you should be able to test out your camera for compatibility without even installing.
Good luck!
