I have an old D-Link DE-220PCT ISA PnP NIC Card which isn't working with Linux, probably just because I don't know how to get it to work. I have looked into it, and the Linux Hardware Database says it works, and gives it an overall rating of 2.5 out of a 5.0 scale using the ne.c NEx000 ISA NIC Driver. From what I have been looking at, it seems you have to also put in the IO and IRQ of the network card when doing modprobe ne... (ie: modprobe 00x000 7) or something like that. I downloaded the DOS drivers for it, which has a think to change the hardware addresses and stuff in it, but the DOS application doesn't detect the card at all, so that was scratch. I'm told that ISAPNP works with it too, but, I have no idea how to use ISAPNP. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I'm using Slackware Linux 8.0
Thanks,
Jason Bush

Hmm. The D-Link DE-220P ISA nic (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO/nic.html#AEN5041) is supported in Debian at least.
Not sure if there's any inherently major differences between the 2 models.
Knew I saw that model # somewhere in the last few days. :p Debian's nic driver/setup area only had 2 D-Link setups listed as I recall.
Any chance you could have a look at their setup to see what needs to be set?

but the DOS application doesn't detect the card at all Did you download the correct drivers/utility disks for the NIC? Otherwise, I'd say the NIC is fried if the setup utility didn't detect it.
You might want to try it in another ISA slot or diferent computer to make sure the ISA slot isn't fried.

Hehe just pulled out an old nic to add to this Debian system and it turned out to be a 220P too.

This might help: http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Ethernet-HOWTO-2.html#ss2.3
Ok, This is about as specific as it gets I think: http://archive.lug.boulder.co.us/bymonth/1999.09/msg00209.html
FTP Info for the all the floppy files that come with the DE-220P nic: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/NIC/de220/
