I'm not have much luck with my printer right now... I thought it was becuase my zip drive was in the way... even though this
combo has worked before. In my kernel I have all the right stuff on;

ppa (for the zip, even though its not pluged in right now)
paraport
paraport_pc
IEEE 1284 transfer modes

I compliled my kernel by;
make xconfig
make-kpkg kernel_image
dpkg -i <thekernel>.deb

I reboot the computer.

Progeny has some kind of printer setup thing... I selected the epson800 (it is supported) and everything setup well.

There is a section where it wants to know what your using in the /dev folder

It suggested "par0"
I've tried par0, lp1, lp0;

Is there anything I've missed... what should I do... I've been nice to my printer... I swear

Thanks for the help
-Will

Hmm... I tried turning on support for user-space parallel port device drivers... but that didn't help.

Oh and the printer is on... they only light thats warning me is that I'm low on black ink... but i know i have enough for a test print.

Do you have an epson stylus color 800 or an epson stylus 800?? There is a difference, and I had the same kind of problem at one time.

Also, my esc800 refuses to print (in linux) if the low ink indicator is on....

Its also not that it wont print... its that the computer says that the prints are successful... my printer doesn't do any initializing on startup.

It is also setup for an epson stylus color 800

-Sorry about the spelling errors... its late over here.
