Hi I have mandrake 8.1 and I had a diffrent mosue plugged in and so when I booted a text based menu came up asking me to configure the mouse...so I did..
then when I put the old mouse back in that menu popped up again but I wasn't paying attention and I hit a key..I think I slected
UNCONFIGURE mouse...so now I have no mouse working at all...

If I boot into KDE or GNome and try to run Harddrake I just get a black screen with a cursor in the upper left..and nothing ever happens. Also If I try to go to Mandrake Control center...it lists under hardware the mouse...but I can't select the thing without Using a mouse.

Any ideas what I should do? I think I somehow turned off mouse support...it says
/dev/mouse don't exist when I boot up...

My mouse does exist (I'm using it right now in windows98.)

Is /dev/mouse symbollicaly linked to the proper mouse device, eg /dev/psaux?
Secondly, as for the hard drake so called problem you say you have, that is what happens most of the time I think, and is easily solvable, just press alt-f7 and you should be returned to the X screen.

Try this:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/kudzu restart

Thanks, that fixed it!
