Help! I just created an ext2 partition on my second hard drive but it was a dos16 filesystem beforehand and now it's not recognised by anything. I did see the message about checking out help files if you are converting from dos16 but the note I wrote has disappeared amongst all my other notes. Can anyone tell me where to look for help or what to do?
Thanks, Peter.

Did you reboot after using cfdisk? The system will need to be rebooted to re-read the partition table before you can use the new partitions.

Yeah, no go. If I 'cfdisk /dev/hdc' I get a
'FATAL ERROR: Bad signature on partition table' message. There was an important message for people creating ext2 from dos16 but I've lost the reference. I seem to recall it was for a microsoft help page so I'll head off and search around there for awhile. Please do give us a yell if you think of anything though. Cheers, Peter.

OK, things are moving along....I've got it back to being a dos16 partition; it just won't do anything from there. If anyone happens to read this, do you know why I can't convert my dos hard drive to ext2? None of the man pages for fdisk or cfdisk mention this problem...they just talk about what to do to create a dos part'n from an ext2, not the other way around.
Anyone with this problem in the future can email me at ptpi@yahoo.com if you want to know where things go from here. I WILL find a solution.
Peter.
