Hi I have seen the windows manager Enlightenment talked about and some cool looking examples. I wanted to give it a try.. anyway, I'm wondering two things: first what files to d/l to get it running on my Mandrake 8.1 distro, and two how to install these files to get it up and running.. unfortunately www.enlightenment.org (http://www.enlightenment.org) seems to be down, but the files are available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/enlightenment .. I just don't know what to get/what to do with it :)
Any help would be appreciated.. thanks!

it turns out that people who tell you to install things from source code are almost always on crack.
crack cocaine that is...
try find an rpm and use rpmmanager to install it.
then you may want to edit your ~/.xinitrc file so that enlightenment boots up without the kde tool bar along the bottom.

It should be on your Mandrake CDs if you have some or on their website, the rpm I mean. Then add
exec enlightenment
to the .xinitrc file in your home directory (don't actually need the exec).
Have fun

If it is not on your cd then you will need to download about five different files in order to run enlightenment. Their website has a list and an a order that they need to be installed. You can use rpmfind to locate them all or sourgeforce.
Fnlib, imlib2... these will be needed. tar files are the best way to go but rpm will work.
good luck it is the best wm
