Linux PHP -> MSSQL Any new developments?

Hello all, does anyone know of any new developments/methods in the old Linux PHP to MSSQL connection headache?

I've been using FreeTDS and unixODBC for a couple of years successfully, but I am limited to how I have to structure my queries since I am unable to do any nested queries... I get the Invalid Cursor State error... which is apparently an issue w/ the FreeTDS drivers that has not been resolved yet...

I'm always googling for better methods, but never seem to find anything...

So I've brought my search here to see if any of you have stumbled upon any solutions...

Never had an issue with the php -sybase add-ins that are apt-gettable...

I thought the sybase stuff only supported TDS <= 5? Can you get to SQL2k servers?
