The trouble with mouses

I recently bought an HP Compaq Presario (v5209US) laptop, on which I loaded FC6. It has a tappad mouse, which I hate, even after I disabled double-tap. It works perfectly, I just do not like tappads. I then went out and bought a MI travel mouse. It is a standard USB wheel mouse. It works perfectly. The center wheel is more comfortable and the center click is fine. Unfortunately, the mouse is so small, I need to hold it with two fingers. I then bought a full size Logitech cordless USB mouse. It work fine except for one strange behavoir. When I click on the wheel to open a page in a new tab, it some time works, it sometimes opens in the current page and it sometimes opens in both a new page and the current page.

I should point out, I made no modifications to xorg.conf to make the mouses work. They were autodetected when I plugged them in.

Any ideas?

Ctrl-Click for opening new tabs ;) Oh, and get a trackball instead.
