I just want to know, what are the main differences between Linux and BSD?

As in all UNIX OSes, the only significact difference is the core kernel.

This of course gives rise to thousands of issues like appz compatibility, compiling and device management.

On top of that, include whatever separates distros from each other.
It's still UNIX though, therefore you could compile most of these tar.gz's that're out there.

Plus the man pages on Linux are a lot worse.
