I've currently got a 8GB HDD and have a 3GB for win2k and 5GB for Debian. What would be the easiest way to free up about a gig to install slackware? Also, I have a Pentium III 450MHz with 768MB RAM, Should I still bother with a swap partition?

20 GB Drives are < $100 USD
Otherwise.... 86 win2k or cut down on your debian partition...

Use swap file:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/boot/.swap bs=1024 count=256000
mkswap /boot/.swap
swapon /boot/.swap
Now you have 256M swap file. To mount at boot time edit /etc/fstab
/boot/.swap swap swap defaults 0 0
The other problem is solved if you get rid of the swap partition then ***make one partition smaller*** and add that to the old swap then use that for slack
***NOTE: Extremely likely to destroy data if not done correctly... be very careful.

:D I'VE DONE IT!!!! :D - I've installed Slackware8.0 on my main box. I've now got Windows 2000, Debian Woody, and Slackware on my HDD! I crudely resized my win2k partition to 2 gig with mandrake's diskdrake and have installed a minimal setup, though I still have most things I use and have only used 37% of the partition! I'm Happy. I've been wanting to try out Slack for a while, but I'm not getting rid of Debian...NO WAY. From what I've seen so far, I like it. The installation went really easily. X setup was a breeze, which seemed wierd as I've heard that it's really hard to configure. My lilo.conf is looking a bit messy though :)
Originally I spent ages trying to decide on if I should install Debian or Slack...but why not have both!
Here's (http://www.jamsession.co.uk/screenshots/slackware_ss2.jpg) my first screenshot of it. I've only installed it about an hour ago, so lots of configuring to do, fonts, themes, mousewheel etc
:D Zombie + Debian + Slackware :D

Zombie: What video card do you have?
I've been thinking of buying a different video card (Matrox G400) for easier X setups.
