How can I format a floppy disk to a mac filesystem. I know nobody in their right mind would do this, but I need it for school.

Kfloppy and gfloppy don't have the option for mac fs, and I don't know how to do it by the command line.

BTW I have the mac os filesystem support in kernel 2.2.19

I've heard of a program called macutils (mactools?) Not sure what it does, but it may or may not help you. Never used a Mac before, so someone else may have a better solution, but it's a start, right? You don't mention your distro, but if it's rpm based, you can find it at www.rpmfind.net (http://www.rpmfind.net) If not, just do a search for it.

If you don't know the homepage of a program, and you need to find it try running a search at www.google.com/linux (http://www.google.com/linux)

Thats a good bet for finding what you need.

The oldest MACS are a rare breed, being a LOW density floppy based on a proprietary SONY drive and integrated 'WOZ Machine' controller. You would likely need an older machine to pre-format the disk. The newer MACS running a later SYSTEM 7.x+ and newer have a 1.44MB drive that can read and format an IBM HI density disk. Typically an HD identifier will be somewhere around this drive. If possible, you would be better off just keeping the DOS format in that case. APPLE's FTP site has many tools and OS upgrades that may be able to help you out on the MAC side of things. But I am not sure about Linux-side tools for this MAC formatting task. Good Luck!
