Hello,
| recently installed Netscape 6 on MDK 8.0 and when I execute it, sometimes it loads fine, and other times you will hear the hard drive rumble and then the netscape process will disappear. So... sometimes if I click the executable a few times in succession it will load. It's almost like trying to turn over a car with a dead battery. Anyone know why this is happening?
So weird...

Bugs.
And they will not be fixing it, Netscape's browser family has been cancelled. They are now doing some web portal for AOL.

Should I go with Mozilla? I had this installed once but I don't recall if I had the same problem or not. I just remember how it would always crash and not find the netscape plugins.

Either go with Mozilla or get KDE and use Konq. <g>
The latest Mozilla is 0.9.1, I believe, should be more stable than the last one you tried.

The new Mozilla is much, much better that Netscape 6.0. Its stable, though it has been stable for me since M17 or so. Since 0.6, which is what Netscape 6 is based on, it has been getting better and better. The new version (0.9.1) is very nice and in my experience renders most pages on par with Opera and even Internet Explorer speed wise. It still has trouble with displaying some pages correctly, but not very often. Only drawback to it IMHO is it takes too long to open, but 0.9.1 is much better in that dep't too.

The only web browser worse than Netscape 6 in Linux: Netscape 6 in Windows!! :)
Mozilla is really leet.
But I don't think Netscape has said per se that they're never going to release another browser. I think they still plan to release Mozilla 1.0 as Netscape 6.5 if Mozilla ever gets there (it's getting close). They're just goint to become an "Internet media company" instead of a "web browser company."
