I just installed Mandrake 7.2, and ran the mandrake update utility. Well, after it was finished nothing in KDE worked. :(

I was wondering what were people's thoughts on MandrakeUpdate, and is there an alternative? I'd like to have the newest version of KDE, but getting it this way kills my system.

Did you update ALL KDE packages? I've used Mandrake Update before and have had no problems with it.

Well, that's a lie. Some mirrors I've tried to do updates from were a bit screwy. Thankfully, Mandrake refused to install anything from these loopy mirrors.

That is all I can suggest is try a new mirror, and make sure all packages have been upgraded to avoid compatibility problems.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Actually, the mirror I downloaded them from gave me an error: couldn't download xxx.rpm.

This was odd, so I checked the /var/cache/grpmi directory and found the RPM it said it didn't download! I checked it and the CRC came out fine, so I just rpm -Uvh'd it myself.

I have tried MANY mirrors with no luck. It always gives me some crazy error.
