It will have a newer Kernel and sata souldn't be a problem. If you are just starting out in Linux, you may want to give Ubuntu a try, or Debian Etch. saikee 06-16-2007, 07:49 AM Red Hat stopped at Version 9 and then the Open source version taken over by Fedora. Fedora is now in version 7. Thus making a Red Hat 3 to work with a Sata disk may be flogging a dead horse now. You will have many other hardware issues awaiting you even if you can install it in a Sata which has moved to Sata II now. phlipant 06-16-2007, 01:05 PM Red Hat stopped at Version 9 and then the Open source version taken over by Fedora. But I agree, Fedora is probably a better way to go. blackbelt_jones 06-16-2007, 01:32 PM He probably means RHEL, which is currently in release 5. But I agree, Fedora is probably a better way to go. Or maybe a more recent RHEL, perhaps CentOS? phlipant 06-16-2007, 04:17 PM Or maybe a more recent RHEL, perhaps CentOS? CentOS is very nice, but I still prefer Fedora. It is a little more cutting edge, which may mean, he might want to go either way. :D klackenfus 06-16-2007, 07:58 PM CentOS is very nice, but I still prefer Fedora. It is a little more cutting edge, which may mean, he might want to go either way. That's its problem. It is bleeding edge, in my opinion. I love CentOS because you get stable RHEL for free! justlinux.com
