When I get my Linux RH online will I have a sh*t load of problems with 13 year olds getting into my system? Do I need to put up some sort of fire wall immediately? Or am I just being paranoid...?

No, you most likely won't have a problem with it, but I opt for the paranoid security method

Actually, chances of him having a problem with it are higher than you might think - especially if you have some sort of service running. Daily, people scan my system.

Firewall is very good. Make sure you put one up. Tripwire may also be a good idea, in case there are any holes in your firewall.

if you dont do anything to secure your box you might as well kick your own *** for being a dumbass :p

at LEAST setup a decent iptables/ipchaines script.
