ok, I have a PS2 marble (logitech) mouse that is hooked up to a serial adapter (PS2 port doesn't work, deal) -- now, EVERY os LOVES this mouse, no problems... but I wanted to have a third button... so, my friend gave me his old plane jane ms scroll mouse, with a serial adapter...

when I plugged it in, nothing... so, I jumped to commandline and config'd gpm to look for any sort of mouse like ps2 or /dev/mouse etc... nothing... so, I get the briliant idea of trying to use the logitech adapter.. still, nothing...

the strange thing is, this happens in ALL O/S'es. None of them like to use the plane jane, non-trackball, mice anymore.. which sucks, 'cause I'm getting tired of this mouse quickly...

anyone got any ideas, or is this more a 'hardware' fourm question?

Is the mouse faulty or has it become damaged? I mean if Windows don't like it, and Linux don't like it, and UNIX don't like it, and BeOS don't like it, it could be broken.
You know the saying...if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it's probably a duck :)

no, I'm positive it works fine, in fact, it's a new mouse off of a friends computer (he got one of them there fancy shmancy optical mice) so, it works, I'm almost thinking its a hardware problem with my mobo.. then again, I could be on crack or somethin
