Hello,

We had change motherboard of our servers as one part of out isolotion of our problem.

After changing thr motherboard, we boot-up the server, but the booting was not completed (what i mean is the booting stop in "Enabling swap space" status "OK".

Booting process stop and after minutes of waiting, monitor became block out.

Is there anyone who can help me whats our problem? does the linux OS does not automatically detect the new motherboard

Your help is needed badly. This is one of the cluster db server.

Linux does have the ability to detect new software and change the settings accordingly, usually asking your permission before implementing the changes.

I would be carefully with the hardware connections as these are location specific and should not be altered, otherwise Linux would end up going to the wrong places to fetch the system files.

I suppose a 64 bit installed system may object if it were downgraded to a 32-bit mobo.

changing a motherboard is just like pulling out ur harddisk and placing it in another computer. Its a hell of a big change..

how much different is the old mobo from the new 1?
wats ur distro and kernel version?

Our server is HP DL380 G3 model, the board we replace is the same model as the old one.

The OS we use is RHEL4 U2 the kernel version is 2.6.9-22 ELsmp
