I just installed Mandrake 8.1.I tried to configure X on my Intel i810 chipset but it is not working.Whatever VRAM i enter the error flashed is '16384kb of VRAM requested'
and 'Less than 6 MB of AGP memory available'.
I had previosly configured X in Red Hat 7.1 with 800x600 and 16bpp.I have 4MB of VRAM.I tried editing xfconfig file and made relevant changes but it did not work. Can you help me out

With 4MB VRAM you should be able to get 1024x768@32bpp no problem. Are you using the correct xserver? I don't know much about the i810 chipset but you might be able to use the svga xserver(without acceleration). Also, in your BIOS, is there a way to choose how much RAM is used as VRAM? I know some motherboards with embedded video allows this.
