I am trying to install Redhat 7.0 on a separate partition on my system. I have a 30 GB FAT32 partition for Win98 and have a 5 GB linux partition. Redhat installs with no errors, but when I reboot after the install, the system hangs after POST and just says "LI". Help!
Thanks in advance

This was brought up not too long ago. Try a forum search and see if you can find a solution.

You're prolly WAAY over the 1024 cylinder limit.
You'll need to upgrade LILO to atleast 21.5.

Forgive my greenness, but how would one go about doing that since I can't boot anything with Redhat installed?

Well, if I'm correct RH is very dumb to install itself where it did.
If I'm wrong....Well I'm wrong..
Lesee...30GB for Windblows, 5GB for Linux...
Are these 2 the ONLY 2 on there?
If so, you'll have to make a very small partition (like 10MB) *BEFORE* the 1024th cylinder on that HDD and put the "/boot" directory on that partition.
That way LILO can easily access the kernel there and then mount "/" (your ROOT account)
Use something like Partition Magic for that, since you'll prolly be "splitting" your Windohs partition.
Ohh...I guess you also have SWAP, right?
Like this (just an example):
/dev/hda1: 23% Windloads C:
/dev/hda5: 0.28% /boot
/dev/hda6:xxxxx swap
/dev/hda7:xxxxx /
/dev/hda8:xxxxx Windloads D:
The percentages used are just a guess, 'cuz the 1024th cylinder lies (usually) around 8 to 9GB depanding on the amount of platters in your HDD.

Thanks MBMarduk... I've had my fill of that question the last few days.
Not even going to suggest that Jumish read the NHF on 'Overcoming Lilo Problems'.
