You need to compile sound modules to load. You can use "modconf" utility to add modules and I **think** it's in misc section.

ok i jus tried modconf - there are no modules to configure .
And i compiled it right away with the kernel.
So it is not a module .
Sorry for not mentioning it before .
Any other ideas ?

You did compile the right modules in the kernel, right? If it's the error, then may be it's not the right modules. If it's newly install hardware, then you may need to recompile the kernel...... Sorry.. no other ideas..... What's your sound modules anyway?? I have Crystal CS4237 chip on board and Linux doesn't support it....

i have an opt chip -seems to be some kind of mozart card or so . But i found something that looked like it and installed it with it . I dont seem to have problems with it .
I have tried to install sndconfig - but it seemed to have removed mozilla and all that kind of stuff . Dont ask me .
Anyway iam trying to get it again .... But first i have to update my sources.list again . We will see ...
But if u have any ideas ... please tell !
