SuSE 7.1 - Thinkpad Crashes

I have a Thinkpad 600 w/ dual boot w2k and SuSE 7.1 - The problem is that is just freezes after using KDE2, KDE and even Gnome. What could the problem be? Something in X11?

Any help would be appreciated.

Does it churn out an error messages? Send us the fluff that it kicks out and we'll give solving this little dilemmat a go.

If there's no errors then does it literally just sit there? What happens when you hit [Alt]-[F2] or [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[F2] ?

I have seen no messages - I looked at some logs and didn't really see anything - although I really don't know exactly where to look.

It does just literally sit there. On VERY few of the occasions - I have been able to hit [Ctrl]-[Alt]-F1 and break out to a shell - but the rest of the times I have to hit the power button.
