Strike said the following in this (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=017600) thread:
They are all the week old "Seawolf" releases.

The ISO's at ftp.progeny.com are the Seawolf releases as well. Are they the final release? I think I'll just wait until the 24th.

i tried both those sites and couldn't get in
anyways, i thought seawolf was a beta version of 7.1
reading through the documentation on the red hat site, the 2 iso images you need are: 7.1-respin-disc1.iso and 7.1-respin-disc2.iso

i think the seawolf are beta versions of these two iso's
somebody correct me if i'm wrong

The 7.1 ISO's at LinuxISO.org don't say anything about SeaWolf. I wonder if they are a safe bet? Anyone know?

I though Seawolf was the beta release name... I could be mistaken.

That's what I mean. The ISO's at LinuxISO.org don't say SeaWolf (as do all the ftp sites I've tried) so I wonder if they are the final release.

ok, I'm having a horrible problem finding an open ftp for rh 7.1.

I downloaded the isos from linux.cz yesterday, but apparently the isos are bad.
So, any open quality ftp sites? thanks

Well, I'll open my mouth and look stupid again, as usual. I have a shrink-wrapped RedHat7.0. I registered it with RedHat. It seems that after I have signed in under my username/password under MyNetwork (something like that) with my browser, I am allowed to browse into and download stuff from their FTP site WITH MY BROWSER. Sorry, don't have the URL cause I'm in Linux, for once, when I writing this. Does it make sense? Are you browsing or using CUTE FTP or something else?

Even if you downloaded your RH7 to CD, I believe you're still allowed to register (1) machine on their fancy-schmancy new system? And thus get in and download ftp?
Earl

brasso: Not sure what your question is. Any user can connect to ftp.redhat.com, but it is very slow because there are many others currently connected to their server. Of course, if you have a host address, you can use an ftp client instead of your browser (i.e.:gftp, downloader, iglooftp). I'm looking for an open mirror.

Currently it doesn't have SeaWolf title. Maybe they changed them since you downloaded... http://www.linuxiso.org/redhat.html

I started downloading from LinuxISO yesterday. I'm at 50% of disc 1 and 50% of disc 2.

yeah i noticed that, but the time i got to downloading disk 2 that the title of the file had been switched from 'seawolf'something or other to 'redhat7.1'...etc.

so - has anyone gotten any confirmation from redhat that 'seawolf' files are indeed the final version of 7.1? i'd try writing redhat support or posting on their board but nobody ever answers my msgs on there and i've given up on those resources...

I just found the Seawolf mailing list (http://www.redhat.com/mailing-lists/seawolf-list/index.html) at redhat.com. I looked through most of the topics but none seem to be about the difference (if any) between Seawolf and 7.1 -- maybe that means there isn't any.

You should send mail to seawolf-list@redhat.com and ask there.

I just realized something that may or may not be useful. I found it interesting.

You'll notice that when you click on an iso from the Red Hat page at LinuxISO.org it automagically picks an ftp site for you. This means that it's very likely you won't get the same site twice in a row (I know because I am downloading again after my first download hang  ). The filename of the iso that I was downloading the first time didn't have seawolf in it but the current one does. I just thought that was interesting (considering no one has been able to say whether seawolf is the final release or not)...

regardless-
even if you do wind up installing seawolf and it is beta - there's a patch that will upgrade you to the final version right?

Also a little confused about what's what (and downloading the seawolf iso's now and hoping I'm not getting the beta) I saw this in redhat.com's "How to download RedHat"...

You will need to download the ISO images for Intel-compatible machines: seawolf-i386-disc1.iso and seawolf-i386-disc2.iso, in the directory ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.1/en/iso/i386/.

Oh yeah, and the mirrors page is a little dated, I went through most of the US sites yesterday and a lot didn't seem to have the correct directory. I finally settled on lunix.nssl.noaa.gov (ftp://linux.nssl.noaa.gov/pub/linux/redhat/linux/7.1/en/iso/i386/) which is giving me about 35k/s as I surf...
