can someone explain me briefly how to configure my agp card in linux (text-based) and how to start the x window setup (xstart). Thank you !

Check http://www.xfree.org to see which version of X and which Xserver you need for YOUR video card.

Some (old) cards work only with 3.3.6, others only with 4.x.x.

The setup utility is called XF86Setup.
What's your distro? Some distros like SuSE have their own utilities instead of XF86Setup.

Which video card? What version of X?

If it is X 3.3.5/6 then you need to install the X server your card requires, the VGA16 server,and XF86Setup. Run XF86Setup.

I am working on the same thing right now. I was told by someone to type-XF86Setup or type in XF86Config :)

Did you not find any of the suggestions that are continuously posted here.

There are most likely man pages related to them. 'man command'.

If your distro is already installed, you can find a wealth of X documentation in /usr/X11/doc or somewhere in there.
