i have a mandriva 2007 powerpack installed on a virtual machine
(microsoft virtual pc)
after installation in configuration step, i select NVIDIA 6800, but my HOST computer has NVIDIA 6200. and then i set resolution and color depth.
but now when i try to start the x server by

#startx

the folowing error occures :

what should i do?
with the kernel 2.6.17!

installed on a virtual machine Then you shouldn't be using any nvidia drivers. You need to be using drivers for whatever virtual hardware your virtual machine provides to the guest OS.

(Now, it may be that ms virtual pc provides a virtual machine that exactly matches the host machine -- but if it did that, it would have to give the guest OS full control over the host machine. And that's just a recipe for disaster; if some program running on the guest OS happens to be malware (many malware researchers use VMs to test new variants), then it suddenly has full control over the host hardware. Not Good.)
