Hello - i am running Ubuntu 6.10 and I am trying to install xine but i receive the following message when attempting to install:
/home/andrew/xine-ui-0.99.4# make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.
What do i need to do to get this installed?

configure
make
make install
last command will need to be done as root/sudo
Have you tried installing xine with your package manager?
Or from a terminal with apt.
sudo apt-cache search xine if it's listed then
sudo apt-get install xine
Your on Ubuntu, take advantage of apt-get. No more installing from source, unless their just plain old don't have a debian package. Anyhow if your the gui type, give synaptic a try.

I am in the Third World with maybe 20 movie DVD's, and no player. So, I apt-get -ed xine, and it plays them really well on my emachine W3115.
