ok, heres the video card setup:
NVIDIA TNT2 on PCI 1:0:0 (AGP).
Old (1 mb) Cirrus card on PCI 0:4:0

i set them both to 640x480 and with 8 bit color. start xinerama and the monitor for the cirrus card just flickers like crazy. the other one does nothing.
i tried setting up the cirrus card again, and it wanted the SVGA drivers this time, so i installed them. now whenever i try to do a startx -- +xinerama it just gives me a list of options and says +xinerama is not an option.

anyone have ideas?

Never had time to try it myself though both my main home pc's have dualhead video cards.

Have you read all the documentation at the sourceforge site for Xinerama? Google searches?

Are you sure the 1MB card is good enough to work with Xinerama?

Got all the refresh rates set correctly for both cards?

If you pull the tnt can you get the cirrus working by itself?
Does your X-server support xinerama I believe that only the 4 series does
Try shifting the cirrus to a different slot if it doesn't work.
Did you follow the xinerama How-to?
Are you running SUSE it's sax2 tool has a gui
mulit card config

i think i understand now...

i guess not many cards work as the secondary card, and the cirrus is not one of the wokring ones.
oh well.
