Had to reinstall the other day and just now getting back to where I was. I did apt-get install grip and apt-get install cdparanoia. Installed lame3.88 did a .configure, make, and make install with no problems or errors. I do a which lame and it returns /usr/local/bin/lame. But when I try to rip and encode it does rip but doesn't even try to encode. I rebooted thinking it might help (windows flashback) but still happening. Thought it might be permissions so I logged in as root and tried, with even stranger happens. When I open grip and insert a cd it does not show the tracks names but it does as a user.

Also having problems setting up new gkrellm themes. I d/l one and put it in /home/missy/.gkrells and do tar xvf file.tar.gz and I can select the theme and it changes some of it but the graphs are still the default green color while the frames change to the new theme.

What is going on here? Do I need to start over again? I don't mind doing that if needed but if it can be fixed I would like to start fixing things instead of starting over.

Thanks,
Mis

Don't know about lame, but the gkrellm theme needs to go in /home/missy/.gkrellm/theme.
It may be themes, not sure, but it is easy enough to switch if it doesn't work as one. :)
