HI, I realise that i have to much important data onto one IDE drive and since that data change all the time, continuous backup is a pain. I now think of keeping my IDE drive for my 3 usual OS only and buying 2 SATA drive wich will have that data only (no OS). I want those 2 SATA drive to be running in the continuous RAID backup mode (dont know anything about raid yet). Is it possible to run one IDE for the OS and 2 SATA in backup RAID for my data ? :)

yes it most certainly is, only problem will be if you want to share the raid array among linux and windows, if that were the case you will need a supported hardware raid solution, and will have to use a supported filesystem
it appears you are wanting raid-1 since you only have two drives in the array, this can be done with software raid rather easily but if you have more than one OS this will increase problems
if you can, get a raid card, and do hardware raid
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID some reading material for ya

My IDE is has 2 Linux and Windoz on it. My 2 SATA will just have to synchronize data in Linux, and i dont want my raid seen in windoz if possible. I will be using the IDE with windoz for games only, so no backing up the data nescessary there. Your saying that constant backing up in raid can be done in Linux with 2 drive with a software only solution. Just what i need. Great thxs
