hey all,

I have an old gateway solo 2500 laptop from 1998. It has a 2.5gb hard drive, a 333mhz processor(pentium II) and 64 mb pc 100 ram, and usb 1. I have been looking to upgrade parts of the laptop. Is it possible to upgrade from usb 1 to usb 2 on a laptop? The laptop has 2 usb 1 ports.

Typically laptops are limited in upgradability. Memory, hard drive and CPUs but AFAIK it isn't possible to upgrade USB since it is probably integrated into the motherboard but you can add a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Any reason for needing the usb 2? Most devices will work in either format, 1.1 is just a bit slower
