I'll give just a basic guide, i am a newb with linux and these directions are easy enough for me
1) purchase or download YDL 5
2) burn ISO to disk (if you don't know which program to use try Sateira)
3) download otheros.self from www.playstation.com/ps3-openplatform/
4) download otheros.bld from www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/install/ps3/otheros.bld
5) place otheros.bld and otheros.self on a usb storage media of your choice in the folder (make it from scratch) /ps3/otheros
6) partition HDD from system settings --> format utility
7) attach usb media to playstation 3 usb port (any will do, even a hub)
8) go to system settings --> install other OS and follow prompts
9) go to system settings --> default os and change to other os
10) attach keyboard and mouse (i didnt need the mouse for installtext)
(up to here everything is the same as HDTV installation)
11) when kboot prompt appears place install disk in drive and type 'installtext' (without ')
12) follow prompts and change settings as you like (the only thing i changed was gave more space to my swap drive, BTW the format utility it gives you cant touch the space alloted for ps3 so your save games and all will remain intact)
13) after finishing install it will tell you to reboot, next time at the kboot prompt type ydltext or ydl480i to start running YDL on your ps3 with an SDTV
*note* this is where i am, and I cant get enlightenment to run, not sure if it is possible to do ATT but as soon as i can get some help i will update with that information
