Hey guys im a newbie to linux and loaded xp on one partition and fedora 6 on the other.
the problem im having is setting up my wireless connection on my Acer Aspire 5000, the current card is a broadcom airforce one 54g. I know that this card is very much a pain in the butt to setup. I also have a cisco aironet 350 lan adaptar card- just the card no cd. Could someone help me set up either one of these cards.
help is much appreciated.
thanks for your time

MIKE

Step 1: install ndiswrapper, the commands are

yum install ndiswrapper kmod-ndiswrapper

You might need the livna repos for this step, not sure

Step 2: reboot your system

Step 3: Install your windows driver into ndiswrapper. Details can be found here

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation#Install_Windows_driver

Step 4: Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.conf

alias wlan0 ndiswrapper

or type

ndiswrapper -m

Step 5: Umm, reboot again

Step 5: Go to System->Administration->Server Settings->Services and activate NetworkManager

P.S. I have both chipsets. The broadcard works fine, but for the life of me, I could never get the aironet working.
