Hi,
Just installed SUSE 10.1 and after an entire day have managed to get it to play MP3s in at least some of its apps (I accept they don't want to include the mp3 codecs with the distro - but why cant they make it easy to add it later?!?)
Anyway, I'm using amaroK with the helix player decoder. But whenever I do anything, the MP3 will stutter, whether thats just clicking a link in a website, mimimising amarok or changing virtual desktop. Is this just because Realplayers decoder is ****ty? Or is it a problem with SUSE (doesn't happen with xmms). I have reniced amarok to -10 but still no avail.
Is this likely to stop if I can get gstreamer to play mp3s? Anybody managed to do this is SUSE 10.1? It seems that the correct gstreamer packages are just not available for 10.1!
Any ideas welcome!!
