Hello All,

I booted up from a new Elive distro cd and got a screen that gave me (at the top) 'unknown keyword in config file' and (lower down) 'Kernel panic, not syncing: Attempted to kill init'. And nothing further, of course.

I then booted up from a new GParted Live CD 0.3.1, a partitioning tool, and got the same message about Kernel panic. Anyone know what this means and what I do about it?

Just in case it's connected, I have two HHDs in my computer: the master has Kanotix on it and the slave (installed with help from the Hardware forum here) has Libranet 2.8 on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does Kanotix/Libranet properly boot?

Hi Parcival,

Yes, both distros boot okay. However, I have tried lots and these are the only two I have ever managed to install and be able to configure things like my Oki printer and dial-up internet connection. I've been wondering if my hardware is substandard or something.

I have an Optronix KT600 mobo, a Gainward 128mb AGP graphics card, 500mb Samsung memory in one strip, and an AMD proceesor (I can't remember the speed).

Hope this helps.
