num lock goes off

Dear all
after booting linux and loging in the num lock goes off i have to press it to get it back , and when i go to xwindows and get back to console prompt it again goes off
how to rectify that ?

I found sone instructions here. (http://www.linuxarkivet.nu/mlists/suse-linux-e/0010/msg02190.html) I don't know if this works or not, I just live with turning it on when I need it!

Distro? Did you install the numlock startup script?

If it is MDK 7.2, there is a simple fix.

As root:
touch /etc/sysconfig/numlock

You should then be all set.

Work in Redhat7.1?? This has been a minor anoyance to me since I started using Linux a few months ago but I just sort of left it ...
