ripperX wont detect cdrom drive

I am having some problems with ripperX detecing my cd writer. I want t to rip some cds i own to my hardrive.


it complains that with Error Code 14

Make sure an audio disc is in the drive and that you are either
runnintg ripperX as root, are a member of the "cdrom" group, or otherwise have appropriate permissions to acess the CDROM device

Error: cdparanoia complains L

checking /dev/cdrom for cdrom ....


here is my permissions on the drive

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Oct 19 01:12 cdrom -> /dev/hdc
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 Oct 19 01:03 hdc

my user is apart of the cdrom group. if i run the Id command. i can see he is apart of cdrom.

my question is why wont ripperx find my drive? cdparanoia and i can rip using that . I want to use ripperX thou

wrong permisssions it is changed to chmod 770

did you try logging out and back in since you added the user to cdrom?

of coarse i did that.... it doesnt work. it has to be a stupid bug in the ripperx program.. i have the correct permissions on it....... it just doesnt make sense to me why it wont work.
