Hi, everyone.
The Oregon State Linux Users Group (OSLUG) created and documented a Firefox "crop circle."
You can find details, including images and videos, at the following URL:

Thanks for your time. (Just think about the time that went into the crop circle!) ;)
Cordially,
David

If I were that farmer I would be pissed at who ever damaged my crops. It's rather short sighted and displays a lack of concern for other peoples property, which is something not characteristic of open source folks.

From the article:
With the idea, the enthusiasm, and the commitment in place, the next thing we needed was to find a field and contact the owner for permission.
.
.
.
Finally, Beth contacted Alex, whose family lived near the owners of an oat field in the Amity area. A few phone calls and emails later and permission was secured! We had an unharvested field of oats!

A thought just occurred to me, however: How does the GPL pertain to a Firefox crop circle? ;)
Anyway, so many people have helped me in JustLinux that I wanted to post this link and image with the goal of providing an entertaining diversion -- but one that relates to open-source software. :)
Thanks!

David

Yeah, I saw that a while back posted on spreadfirefox.com I think. They did an awesome job with the logo and got permission before hand. What better way to spread the word about a great browser? :)

Hello, 'JayMan8081'.Yeah, I saw that a while back posted on spreadfirefox.com I think. They did an awesome job with the logo and got permission before hand. What better way to spread the word about a great browser? :)I think that it is especially important that the LUG worked together as a team (much like open-source software is written, tested, improved, and released) and that they were ethical -- getting permission to create the crop circle.
I do not want to make a "big deal" about the Firefox crop circle, but I do believe that the incident makes a positive statement about the ideals of Linux users (at least, the ideals that I have and share with others), as individuals, and the OSS movement as a sociological and technical phenomenon.
Cordially,
David
