Broadband Help

Can anyone tell me in idiot speak how to set up a broadband connection, I'm getting very close to a return to Microsoft.

I have a netgear router and linksys modem and have the following lights on the modem power, ethernet & dsl with an intermitant internet light, I have a desktop box & laptop which are both connected to the router and a connection between these using NFS which seems tro work ok, I can't acess the router setup site using 192.168.0.1.


Can any one help before I ditch the whole lot, it really must be easier than this.

For what it's worth, I spent 3 or 4 hours, on a couple days, With a friends WGR 614 router. Biggest piece of crap I have ever tried to use. so, had her pick up a linksys wrt-546, and 30 minutes later, she had both wired ,and wireless. Dump the netgear!

My ISP gave me a Netgear, that stayed there until the installation guy left the house and is now in a box in the garage :)
Defiantly go with a Linksys
