I have a SBLive that I can't seem to get working right under Red Hat 7. I try and use the sndconfig command and it recognizes the corresct sound card, but when it goes to paly the sample sound, all I hear is distortion and a faint voice. It is really bad.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this might be? Someone said that it may be Linux recognizing the wrong IRQ, DMA and I/O range, but since I am a newbie, I don't know where to change those at.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hello,
try a /sbin/lsmod and see if teh emu10k1 module is loaded, for me redhat 7.1 set it up with out me needing to do anything. also try opening a mixer (gmix, kmix, xmix...) and seeing what adjustments in there can do. also, is this a stock kernel?

Thanks for the advice guys. I didn't try to open any mp3s after the sample sound sounded so bad, but I just now tried a mp3 with XMMS and it works great! I didn't even try because I thought that it would be crappy sounding. hehe Well, I have sound now! Now unto diving into getting this LAN to work. :)
