I've got a Windoze 2K Server in play that I need to keep alive, but want to load Linux and enable it for dual-boot. I need to show that I can run Linux equivalents to prompt a Linux migration.
- What do I need to be concerned with in setting dual-boot for a Win2K box?
- I need to run a web server, do some server-side scripting and hit a database pretty hard. Which distro should I look at?
Thanks.

OK, now I'm feeling like an ***...giving you a nudge of-sorts and no-one will help you. :o
So, instead I looked up some dirt on the subject here: http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019054
...and its follow-up... http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019028
Sorry, but I'm not in-the-know for Win2k AND Linux. I always put my LILO bootsector on a flop and keep Windoze's MBR alone on my comp.
It's my choice and I've been happy with it forever, although many consider this to be "unclean"...I consider this to be cleanER.
A matter of taste. :)
Hope this helps,
-Mike

As for your distro choice....pfffff....even MORE people ask that.
Both new ones and older users looking for a new challenge.
This thread contains my story: http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019047
So if you're new I'd go for SuSE. I know for a fact that it's pretty clean, especially compared to Mandrake, judging by the amount of "Help! mandrake FScking sucks"-type threads.
Compared to REDHAT...dunno, might just have an edge over RH.
Some people will prolly direct you to FreeBSD for server-type scenarios.
Right now I'm partial to Slackware, but that's me.
I'm just a regular home-user, so....

Based on the reading I've done, plus with others comments, Mandrake is off the list. I've used Red Hat, and it's OK I suppose but I'd like to get the most out of this project.
SuSE looks interesting, but SlackWare sounds like it rocks. I understand that the lack of a gui environment can scare some folks, but I need this thing to run, not sit there and look pretty.
