HI everybody,
I'm looking for help from Linux specialists> I installed on my comp (Celeron 700, TNT-2 M64, motherboard with VIA chipset)Mandrake 8. Everything went fine till I wanted to boot the system it freezes everytime when starting something called X fonts server ???. Do I have to reinstall ???

I suppose X is starting automatically everytime you boot . You should try to get to a command prompt first . When you are using LILO you can press a button when there stands "LILO" on your screen and then type "linux single " Then you will get to a command prompt .
That is the first thing you should do . Iam not so sure about the font server . But here are enough ppl who can help you with that - iam sure !

Starting x on boot should not be a problem. It sounds as if there may be a problem with x-server loading or possible the incorrect x-server. Strike or X_Consol would be perfect for this question.
Can you give us a read out of what the screen says when it halts... verbatim.

also try posting this in tech support too. Lots of guru's in there. :D
